The piece is a beautiful example of a late 19th- to early 20th-century decorative ceramic vase utilizing a raised slip or enamel technique (sometimes broadly termed Barbotine). While we cannot name the artist or factory due to the lack of a mark, the creator was a skilled artisan working within a popular decorative arts tradition of that time.

Tall, slender cylindrical form with an incredibly detailed and tactile texture. The entire body is covered in an intricate raised scrollwork/swirl relief pattern in a matte, creamy white tone.

The vase is decorated with small, raised moriage floral and medallion motifs in rich colors like cobalt blue, rust orange, and gold. The top rim and neck feature a contrasting, glossy dark brown or black glaze that highlights the opening.

The stylized floral and geometric borders (especially at the shoulder and base) are consistent with Japanese Satsuma or Meiji period export ware.

Dimensions: 16.75"H x 5.5"W at base. Weighs 6.5 lbs. No flaws noted.
